The Bell, Odell, Bedfordshire

The Bell is an old rambling village pub serving real ale (CAMRA listed - Green King tied pub) and serves a range of good food cooked to order. Internal features include an inglenook fireplace (used in winter). Approching from the front the pub is a choclate box picture with a thatched roof main building with a small car park to the rear (entrance on the RHS). There is also has a large garden with plenty of seating and comes complete with (caged) geese and backs on to the Gt River Ouse. Note that fences have been erected across the rear of the garden by Green King and another one by the adjoining landowner preventing you taking a shortcut across the river side stream (dry in summer) from the footpath to the south.
The staff are efficient and friendly but lunch is only served from noon to 2pm and the pub closes during the afternoon (3pm) so it's no good planning a mid afternoon rest stop here. Instead forge on to Carlton and the Red Lion or The Fox that are open all day at weekends.

This pub is well worth seeking out and can be busy for Sunday lunch so get there early or phone ahead and book a table.
