| This one of two pubs in the small village of Stevington and the place to get the key to see the inside of nearby Stevington Windmill. The pub has one large bar having been renovated in 1998 and serves a large range of bar meals. There is a large, very well kept garden next to the pub with plenty of tables and seating. The garden no longer has a number of exotic birds in an aviary as the management has changed. The aviary is still there but the birds are gone. Since the opening of the Ouse Valley Way they have been doing a B&B service but I have no idea of prices and capacity. The Management has changed as of May and the menu may have changed as well. No reports yet of the quality. The Red Lion is a Green King tied house but also usually serves at least one other guest beer. Prices are very reasonable and the beer always in good condition which is why this pub makes regular appearances in the Good Beer Guide. The large stone cross in the picture below which stands outside the pub is Celtic and its' exact origin is unknown. Also try the Ship which was sold by the Charles Wells brewery and is now a free house. |
